Los Angeles International Airport-LAX Theme building.

We have these photos of the LAX Theme Building taken at the end of it's construction in 1961. What an expanse of space it was then as comapared to now.

Here are some interesting facts about the theme building:

- About 900 tons of structural steel used in the building.
- Building designated by LA City Council as a Cultural and Historic Monument on December 18, 1992.
- The Theme Room restaurant operated 1961-1995.
- Designed by James Langenheim of Pereira & Luckman.
- The restaurant affords fine views of aircraft going about their business.
- The building's design was influenced by a landing spacecraft, in particular those in the 1953 movie 'The War of the Worlds'; architect William Pereira's brother Hal was art director on the movie. link

9/8/2006- NEW CATEGORY JUST ADDED; MEXICAN THEMES AND ICONS!

This new category was sparked by a meeting with a creative director of a Hispanic ad agency.  He expressed his desire for Latino/Mexican imagery of objects and icons he said he was finding very few images at the big stock sites.  Sure enough: we found in our searches for Hispanic themed imagery the choices were very slim. link
